Jared Parker is seeking election as the CSBS Senator for NISG.  Read about him below!

Jared Parker for CSBS Senator

I am a senior history and political science student. I am currently serving as the senator for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and have previously served as a senator for off-campus students. I have worked on legislation to increase funding for student events on weekends, worked to help reshape the senate, and to help lobby for sales tax-free textbooks. I have worked to help defend aspects of our beloved university and continue to try and bring in as many resources as possible to better serve students.

I am also currently serving as both the deputy speaker of the Senate, and as the chairman of the Government and Legislative Affairs committee, which looks over the by-laws, constitution, and other documents of student government.   Experience is a major asset I will continue to bring to the Senate.

I pledge to continue working towards making campus life at UNI better for the students by helping to continue release more funds from the NISG contingency fund in generous, but fair, manner. NISG gets its money from the Student Services Fee, and those funds fail to serve students when they sit in a bank. One such method will be to help create a fund where certain events will have access to more money, a lot like the current weekend stipend (which I co-authored).

I will also continue to work towards creating a united front on this campus for the university. Faculty and the community are two allies that can be drawn upon to help make a stand for the university when it comes time for funding.
